Charlotte Kerwood

2008: Charlotte Kerwood GB Olympian for Olympic Trap

2002: Charlotte only 15 years old after winning Gold medal in the Commonwealth Games, England 2006: Charlotte homecoming after her double gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia

2002: Charlotte set the shooting fraternity alive in Britain when at 15 years old defeated the best shooters in the Commonwealth to win the Gold medal in the Ladies Double Trap held at Bisley, Surrey. In addition to her win she also became the youngest ever British shooter to win gold. Regular visitors to her home shooting ground at Northall will know that Charlotte (apart from being the daughter to Jan & Dan Kerwood) has achieved remarkable success in her then chosen discipline of Double Trap. The amount of British television media coverage during those Games on shooting typically was abysmal.........anyhow she thrived on competition and also reached the top ten high ranking shooters in the world in that discipline. She continued to pursue her aspirations in the Ladies Double Trap with the intention of getting to the Olympic Games, she went on to even greater success in the Double Trap, however this Ladies discipline was to become a future victim of the Olympic Games!!!

2006: And so Charlotte's shooting prowess continued......... Four years on and she done what few mortals are able to achieve and that was to go to Australia in the Commonwealth Games for a second time and beat them all......you can read more on that here.
Since those glorious days..... sadly the Ladies Double Trap discipline was dropped from the Olympic Games....much to the disappointment of Charlotte and the shooting fraternity, however underterred she then diverted her attention to the Olympic Trap and within a short time become a formidable shooter in the discipline............with sponsorship help Charlotte was able to train hard on her new Olympic Trap discipline and set her sights on the Olympic Games in 2008. Since her second Commonwealth Games success, she was already proving that she can shoot as well as the best in this country........ many shooters at that time would have been looking over there shoulder wondering how long before Charlotte passes them!!.......Very much in the limelight, Charlotte was in demand for her presence and attended a number of special ocassions, including being nominated for the BBC South East Sports Personality of the year and a special invitation from Buckingham Palace inviting her to attend a reception and meet his and her Royal Highness.........wow, how many of us get that chance.

2008: Charlotte achieved a dream that very few people will ever achieve and that is being selected to represent your country in the 'Olympic Games'. Charlotte barely with two years of Olympic Trap experience, remarkably, achieved a performance to gain her the sole Ladies OT selection place for the GB team in Beijing. Still only 21, Charlotte has the future in her hands, and gained invaluable experience from her Olympic Games debut. Charlotte got off to a great start although her first round score did not reflect it, and whilst she shot an excellent second round of 23, her third round was not what she was hoping for and finished 16th overall. She has gained from this level of competition and has already set her sights for the next Olympics in London.......well.... that is the stance of a champion.........all of us at Northall CPC are proud of her achievements as I'm sure you are.......
